What in an RRSP?

You're young and retirement seems so far away. Or perhaps you'll be there in a few years or even months.

Before making your first move, make sure you get well informed about the different aspects of RRSP investment:

What is an RRSP?
What are the different taxation aspects to consider?
What are the basic rules and the maximum allowable contribution?
What are some RRSP-eligible investments?
What are the different investment methods available?

What is an RRSP?
A Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) is a savings strategy that helps you build capital for retirement. It offers you two tax advantages: your contributions are deducted from your taxable income and the return on your investment is entirely reinvested into your tax-sheltered plan.

For more information
Refer to the RRSP Guide (PDF format, 495 KB), a complete retirement planning tool that includes advice and a list of available products and services. The RRSP Guide can also be obtained at your Desjardins caisse.
